Why escalator inspection important?
Why Escalators Can Catch Fire and What Can Be Done to Reduce the Risk.
... A routine NYC escalator
inspection ensures that these people movers are safe and in good condition.
An important element
of these inspections is
checking for the risk of fire
Firstly,
there’s the risk of injury which can be sustained when using a defective piece
of equipment. Examples include entrapment, such as fingers being caught in
moving parts of machinery; and explosion, where workers are hit by fragments of
the failed item. Safety and welfare; ensuring that plant and machinery are safe
to use forms part of this obligation.
Then
there’s the risk of business interruption. Many companies rely on their
equipment and machinery for keeping things running smoothly. If an engineer
judges it to be unsafe, and informs the owner that it should not be used until
all identified defects have been resolved, this could have serious
repercussions for trade.
Documentation and Reporting
Upon the completion of the
escalator inspection an initial test report will be issued providing detailed
information about the escalator and all the findings. If any the result of the
inspection will be mentioned clearly of any defect and remark found the site
engineer will be notified about the problem and instructed on how to fix it in
order to pass the inspection.
Later on a safety certificate
will be issued carrying the B Safe Safety Stamp our certificates and initial
reports are made to be easy to understand, simplicity and accuracy are our aim
when it comes to certification and documentation.
